The Season so far

Well we've just completed Round 7 of Season 1 and the grumpy old buggers aren't doing badly. Admittedly we wont win anything but we are up against some seriously fast simmers.

I have to say we have good fun watching the hotshoes lose interest when they aren't winning or simply not have the ability to put together sustained racing. No racecraft you see

Anyway we keep on finishing higher than we qualify so we are enjoying ourselves. As predicted Tom has a new system with an Nvidia 7800GTX and has now embarked on a rigourous testing regime. I've warned him that he will wear out his Simsox but it appears money is no object. I did hear a rumour that his feet are blistered LOL.

Talk is ongoing that we may soon be able to have our own paint jobs in the league. This will cause a problem for us cos neither of us can paint for

Hope to post more news here on our new cars when the time comes.

UKGTR GT Sprint 3rd Aug - Up and Running

So Team Oldie Racing got off to a points scoring start finishing 10th and 12th. As you may guess us old buggers are not quite the head of the class in the speed department but we drive clean and safe and look after our equipment. This helped us gain points, although lowly, and start our campaign.

Interesting to see some of the fast guys coming a cropper. It may be a cliche but "To finish first, first you must finish". Or put another way " If you want to finish at all dont stuff it in the wall on Turn 1"

Just a little history on the team members. Mike has been racing online for a number of years in UKGPL but this is Tom's first online campaign.

Tom has always revelled in the guise of grumpy old man and has tried to keep the racing fraternity at arms length. Earning himself the affectionate nickname of Uncle Nasty from his piss taking nephews Tom has tried to live up to the name.

As you may have guessed Mike is the nice one LOL.

Tom is the youngest !! of the team and is already retired from gainful employment. This gives him loads of time to practice. It is believed he has put in more practice time than Ferrari and we are looking forward to his Roman Abramovich type expenditure to obtain a state of the art, top of the line computer to help him in his quest for the top.

In contrast his poorer Minardi style brother with probably have to forego holidays and food to fulfil his lowly ambition.

Just before going to press Team Oldie was trying to recruit ex GPLer Paul "Tall Paul" Cooper into the team. Unfortunately Paul has run into some noise restrictions (his wife says its too bloody loud when he races) Hopefully this can be overcome and he can test drive his brand new Broadband account.

Looking forward to Donington and I'll keep you updated

Welcome to Team Oldie Racing

Team Oldie Racing was formed to compete in the UKGTR Racing League. This is an online league for sim racers using the Simbin racing simulator known as GTR.

The team was formed by brothers Mike and Tom Cooper when the league asked it's drivers to form teams to add more interest and a bit of competitive bite. All in the name of fun, of course.

So keep visiting and we'll keep you up to date with our racing exploits. Yes I know sad isn't it.
